When preparing to order from some place I have not ordered from, I usually hit a few review sites. I saw very poor reviews in several places for Abe Books. Abe Books is a portal where used book sellers can list their books. ThriftBooks in both Atlanta and Dallas list on Abe Books and both locations had a copy of a hard to find book that I wanted. I ordered two, one for me and one for a friend. They were delivered in the condition they were listed, they came on time and in fact both were a day or so early. The third party shipping company they used, OSM Worldwide, regularly updated the progress of my books through the system. I was very pleased. I have reread the many negative reviews and I will say my experience with the sellers was tremendous. View Original Review

I think the rating Abe Books have on here is misleading. Abe Books is a selling platform for hundreds of individual booksellers. So any bad feedback on here is related to the service they received from individual booksellers, not Abe Books. Because buyers can’t leave feedback for a seller like on Ebay they leave it here, which is wrong. The reviews are for individual sellers, not Abe Books. View Original Review

My only experience with Abe Books is ordering German language books from Germany and Austria. The sellers have been truthful and the condition was as promised. The books arrived within time range estimate. As with using any third party seller platform, it’s all about the seller’s integrity. Sorry to see others have had such bad experiences!
